Afghan Terror Attacks

28 January 2018

Labor utterly condemns the horrific terrorist attack in Kabul which has killed 95 people and injured over 150 others.
The despicable and cowardly use of an ambulance packed with explosives in the centre of Kabul comes just days after three members of the charity Save the Children and a soldier were murdered in a deliberate attack in Jalalabad.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those affected by these attacks which again highlights that terrorism is a threat to people of all nations and all faiths.
We join with the Government in offering our support to the people and Government of Afghanistan in their efforts to build a country where people can live their lives free from the constant threat of violence.
Labor again pays tribute to the bravery and dedication of Australian diplomats working in Afghanistan, and their swift work in assuring friends and family back home that no Australians appear to have been caught up in these tragic events.
