SENATOR THE HON PENNY WONG
LEADER OF THE GOVERNMENT IN THE SENATE
MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Today I announce the appointment of Mr Tom Wilson as Australia’s next Ambassador to Lebanon.
Australia is home to a vibrant Lebanese Australian diaspora, which underpins our strong bilateral engagement and enriches our multicultural society.
Australia is a longstanding humanitarian and development partner of Lebanon.
We are committed to deepening our bilateral commercial links and collaboration across a range of sectors as Lebanon advances its vision of rebuilding a peaceful, thriving state.
Mr Wilson is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has previously served overseas as Head of the Australian Representative Office in Ramallah, as well as undertaking postings in Saudi Arabia and Tokyo.
I thank outgoing Ambassador Mr Andrew Barnes for his contributions to advancing Australia’s interests in Lebanon since 2022.
