Brazilian Government Must Protect Amazon Rainforest

24 August 2019

Labor urges the Brazilian Government to act urgently to protect the Amazon rainforest from raging fires, which are increasingly occurring at an alarming rate.
The Amazon has often been described as the worlds lungs. Its protection matters to the whole international community.
We call on the Morrison Government to do everything they can to encourage Brazil to respond to this rapidly worsening global disaster.
Failure to defend against or prevent these fires stands to derail any international efforts against climate change.
