Directors Appointed to New Moorebank Intermodal Company Board

07 June 2013

Minister for Finance and Deregulation Senator Penny Wong has today announced the appointment of four Directors to the newly established Moorebank Intermodal Company Board.
The Moorebank Intermodal Company was established in December 2012 to optimise private sector innovation and facilitate the development of an open-access Intermodal Terminal at Moorebank in south western Sydney.
These four new Directors all have strong investment banking and infrastructure experience, which is essential to ensure this project meets the productivity gains, Senator Wong said.
MsZoranaBull, MsLouiseThurgood, MrPaulBinsted and MrChristopherBrown have each been appointed for a term of three years and join the inaugural chair, Dr Kerry Schott, to oversee the rollout of this project.
The Moorebank Intermodal Terminal is a nationally significant infrastructure project which will generate around $10 billion in economic benefits through reduced freight costs, reduced traffic congestion and better environmental outcomes, Senator Wong said.
Ms Thurgood and Ms Bull were identified through the Governments BoardLinks initiative, which aims to increase female representation on Government boards by identifying high calibre, board-ready women.
These appointments demonstrate the highly credentialed candidates that are being identified through the BoardLinks initiative which I am very proud to be involved in, Senator Wong said.

The Moorebank Intermodal Company has recently commenced a registration of interest process for private sector companies interested in building and operating the Terminal. Expressions of Interest are expected by August 2013, with construction of the Terminal to commence in mid2015.
