Directors Re-Appointed to Defence Shipbuilding Organisation, ASC

05 December 2012

Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Senator Penny Wong, today announced the re-appointments of Ms Sally Pitkin and Mr Jack OConnell AO to the board of ASC Pty Ltd.
ASC is Australias largest specialised defence shipbuilding organisation and employs over 2,400 people in South Australia and Western Australia.
The expertise Ms Pitkin and Mr OConnell bring from their roles on other boards and their professional experiences is invaluable, Senator Wong said.
Ms Pitkin is an independent director on a number of current and former boards and is a former Partner and Special Counsel of Clayton Utz. She currently sits on the ASC Board Committees for Audit and for Nomination and Remuneration.
Mr OConnell is a former Senior Audit Partner with KPMG and is the recently appointed Chair of the ASC Board Audit Committee. He is also a past chairman of St Vincents and Mercy PrivateHospital.
Both Ms Pitkin and Mr OConnell were first appointed to the ASC board in January 2010. Their re-appointments are for further three year terms, from 1 January 2013.
I congratulate both Ms Pitkin and Mr OConnell on their re-appointments, Senator Wong said.
Along with their Chair, Bruce Carter, and fellow directors, they are instrumental to ensuring ASC contributes to strengthening Australia's Defence capabilities.
