The Turnbull Government has suffered another humiliating defeat in the High Court all thanks to Attorney-General George Brandis.
Senator Brandiss habit of appointing Liberal Party mates to plum roles on the Administrative Appeals Tribunal has backfired, with the High Court ruling Hollie Hughes ineligible to replace Fiona Nash in the Senate.
This government continues to lurch from crisis to crisis.
After losing Fiona Nash because she didnt bother checking whether she was eligible to be elected, the government has now lost her replacement.
Mr Turnbull claimed Barnaby Joyce would not be ruled ineligible, and the High Court will so hold he was wrong.
George Brandiss lawyer argued Ms Hughes should be declared valid, despite her appointment to the AAT he was wrong.
Now Mr Turnbull wants to assure us there are no further Liberal MPs who need to be referred to the High Court or need further investigation.
It is now clear that nothing this chaotic government says on this issue can be trusted.
