On behalf of the Opposition I express sadness at the passing of Mr Harry Evans.
Mr Evans was a champion of the Senate and our parliamentary democracy.
As a parliamentary officer Mr Evans was without peer.
While Mr Evans was a public figure, he was a very private man.
The Opposition extends condolences to Mr Evans family as they mourn his loss.
I trust the Senate will mark his passing, and reflect on his legacy, at a later time.
