New Director for NBN Co Limited

Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, and Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Senator Penny Wong, today announced the appointment of Ms Alison Lansley to the board of NBN Co Limited, and the reappointment of Mr Terrence Francis.
Ms Lansley has more than 30 years experience as a corporate lawyer and company director. Her appointment will deepen NBN Cos legal expertise and she will make a great contribution to the board, Senator Conroy said.
Ms Lansley was a partner in the Mergers and Acquisitions practice of Mallesons Stephen Jaques for 16 years, and has been extensively involved in the securities market and corporate governance in Australia.
She has served on many boards, including the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation, as well as the Takeovers Panel and the National Listing Committee of the Australian Stock Exchange.
Ms Lansley has also been a member of various government and not-for-profit boards including Business Working with Education Foundation and the Victorian Regional Council of RedKite - a charity that supports young people with cancer.
Senator Wong congratulated Ms Lansley on her appointment, which begins on 7 December 2012.
Ms Lansley is one of Australias leading corporate lawyers and her extensive experience will be an asset to NBN Co.
Her appointment brings the gender composition of the NBN Co board from 38 per cent to 44 per cent female, meeting the Governments 2010 objective of 40 per cent women on Australian Government boards by 2015.
The appointment of Ms Lansley and the reappointment of Mr Francis are both for three years.
