Labor is deeply concerned by the poor treatment and continued criminal detention of Australian citizen Dr Yang Hengjun in China.
According to the Foreign Minister, Dr Yang has been isolated and has had restrictions placed on his communications with family and friends.
We join the Government in calling for Dr Yang to be treated humanely and in accordance with international human rights law, and for him to have access to his lawyer.
Labor fully supports the Governments efforts to advocate for Dr Yang and we urge the Chinese Government clarify the reasons for Dr Yangs detention.
