Visit to India and China

30 April 2017

I leave Australia today for a visit to New Delhi and Beijing where I will be meeting with political leaders, officials and commentators.
Our bilateral relations with both India and China deeply matter to Australia's place and prosperity in this region.
In China I will discuss our shared mutual interests in our region and in India our growing strategic cooperation in the regional order.
China is our biggest export market and biggest trading partner.
India is now our second biggest market for education services and offers huge potential for Australian trade.
At a time of increasing disruption and uncertainty, both China and India are key players in maintaining regional order and security
Our relationships with both India and China present great opportunities for Australia that I will be exploring during my meetings.
